Try This Simple Social Media Strategy for Your Small BusinessIs your business active on social media? Do you struggle to find time to add one more thing to your to-do list? Here at TMC Typing & Internet Services, we can offer a simple and easy solution for you. You can implement a social media strategy for your business without spending hours a day doing it. Follow the steps below and you’ll be on your way to an engaging social media presence that will bring in customers and clients.

Create & Follow a Social Media Calendar

1-hour Set-up, 30 Minutes Monthly

Creating a social media calendar is not as complex as it sounds. We wrote a blog post about this and you can learn exactly how to do it by reading it here. Once the calendar is set up, all you need to do is fill in the content each month. Plan on having this completed about one-two weeks before you need to begin posting. For example, have the content for December’s social media calendar complete by Nov 20. This gives you the last week of the month, which is plenty of time, to schedule all of December’s posts.

Schedule Posts Each Month

30 minutes – 1 hour monthly

When scheduling posts you can easily do this with a social media scheduling platform like Hootsuite or Buffer. These apps range in price from free to more than $50/month. It would be good to do some research beforehand in order to choose the option that best suits your time and budget.

Now that you have a social media scheduler and a social media calendar, all you have to do is schedule those posts. If you want to include images with some of your posts, you can use a public domain website like Flickr Creative Commons or Pixabay to find free images for your posts.

Check Each Platform Daily

15 minutes daily

Not only do you need to post on social media but you also need to engage with your followers. We recommend checking each platform each weekday, Monday – Friday. If you want, you can also check on the weekends. This is completely up to you. Make sure you answer any messages you receive and reply to comments others have left on your posts.

Interact With Fellow Business Owners

15 minutes daily

A great way to find clients or collaborate with others is to network with fellow business owners on social media. Remember, you’re not doing this to sell your products or services, although this may be a result of effective networking. You are doing this to expand your network and to help other business owners expand theirs. It needs to be a true win-win situation in order for it to work.
